The Assault on Michigan Unions
Updated On: Dec 07, 2012

Dec. 7, 2012 | (Click on image to enlarge.) Yesterday in Michigan, Gov. Rick Synder and his GOP controlled lame-duck legislature pulled a fast one, introducing and then ramming though the House and Senate so-called "right to work" legislation. The bill was introduced at 11 a.m., passed the House by 5 p.m. by a narrow margin and the Senate at around 6 p.m. When the process is complete and the bill is signed, Michigan will become the 24th right to work [for less] state. Related: "The ugly battle to force right-to-work-for-less legislation on Michiganders is being waged by multimillionaires and their outside consultants who are increasingly taking hold of our government. It's outrageous that the ultra rich behind this scheme are strong-arming state politicians with dirty tactics, including threatening to run candidates against them if they do not vote for the ploy…" Read President Hoffa's full response to yesterday's action.
